Samaritan's Purse (Operation Christmas Child) Leader: Brenda Dannatt
Franklin Graham, the eldest son of Billy and Ruth Bell Graham, has devoted his life to meeting the needs of people around the world. He serves as President and CEO of Samaritan's Purse, and the Billy Graham Evangalistic Association. Under his leadership, Samaritan's Purse has met the needs of poor, sick, and suffering people in more than 100 countries. Operation Christmas Child is a part of this Ministry.
Operation Christmas Child's purpose is to bring joy and hope to children in desperate situations around the world through gift-filled shoe boxes and the good News of Gods love. This program provides an opportunity for people of all ages to be involved in a simple, hands-on missions project while focusing on the true meaning of Christmas - Jesus Christ.
The members at large of Mustang Heights Baptist Church participate by donating new small toys, writing tablets, pencils, crayons, soap, washcloths, combs, toothbrushes and toothpaste, as well as hard candy. Some members donate money. This allows us to purchase items which we may be short of. The donated items are packed into decorated shoe boxes, by the ladies in the church, and in mid-November the boxes are sent to Samaritan's Purse collection centers for distribution to children all over the world.
In 2006, Mustang Heights Baptist Church prepared 800 of these shoe boxes and to date in 2007 over 1,000 of these boxes have been prepared.
WAY TO GO LADIES!!!!!!!
